Nineteen percent of the world's children live in India, which constitutes 42 percent of India’s population. But crimes against children constituted only 2.2% of crimes registered under the Indian Penal Code, despite the fact that studies show two out of every three children in the country are physically abused. The stories are brutal, but they are plenty – children being raped, beaten, kicked.
Women in the country don’t seem to have it any better. India is now being called the fourth most dangerous country in the world for women. Rape, acid throwing, domestic violence, dowry deaths, harassment.
When will we begin to pay attention?
In a two-pronged approach, the We Care Foundation is concentrating on the education of women to help bridge the gender gap as well as focusing on keeping the children of India safe. Simply because We Care
